Adapter sleeves are among the most common components for locating tapered-bore bearings onto cylindrical shaft seats. When fitted to plain shafts, they permit bearings to be set to the desired position and securely locked in place. For stepped shaft installations, they are paired with seating rings to space the bearing clear of the shaft shoulder prior to final locking.
